Cape Town – An unidentified 45-year-old woman nearly died after an artery leak during sex at home with her husband in Hattiesburg in Mississippi, United States of America (USA), reports said.
According to Daily Mail, the woman was having sex with her husband while her legs “pressed against her chest”.
As she climaxed she heard a terrifying ‘pop’ in the chest and felt agonising pain and heat.
“The patient was having sexual intercourse with her husband, and during her orgasm, she felt a ‘pop’ in her chest with radiation to her back,” research recently published in the American Journal Case Report explained. “She stated that her legs were pressed against her chest [during the orgasm].”
She went to a local hospital and he blood pressure was found to be alarming with a reading of 220/140mmHg.

Upon further medical examination, the doctors found a leak in her aorta, the largest artery carrying blood through the body.
She was given blood pressure-lowering drugs and was discharged after three days, New York Post reported.
The report said that the woman’s condition was medically known as an acute aortic syndrome or AAS. It is on the spectrum of severe life-threatening diseases.
If left untreated, an aortic rip can lead to death.
A tear often begins as the aorta is weakened over time, and the erosion is typically caused by high blood pressure, said the report.
