Cape Town – An anaesthetist from Brazil, Giovanni Quintella Bezerran, was reportedly arrested on Monday after being accused of sedating and raping a woman during a C-section on Sunday at the Heloneida Studart Women’s Hospital in So Joo de Meriti, near Rio de Janeiro.
According to The Sun, Bezerran’s coworkers became suspicious of him after observing the high levels of sedation he was administering to women.
The coworkers placed a hidden camera in one of the operating rooms.
Bezerran was caught by the camera allegedly placing his penis in the woman’s mouth in an assault lasting ten minutes during a C-section.

Surgeons and nurses who were in the same room couldn’t see the woman’s face at the time of the incident because they were busy delivering the baby.
When the medical staff saw the video, they alerted hospital bosses and the police. Bezerran was then arrested on suspicion of rape.
Daily Mail reported that Bezerra also took part in two other similar procedures that day.
During those procedures, however, filming was not possible.
“We inform you that an internal investigation will be opened to take administrative measures. The Hospital da Mulher team is providing full support to the victim and her family. This behaviour constitutes a crime, which must be punished in accordance with the legislation in force,” said the state health ministry as quoted by the report.
