Cape Town – South African songstress Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer, Magdalene Moonsamy, has reportedly accused the defence lawyer representing four of the five men standing trial for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa, saying her client was being “prejudiced publicly”.
This was after advocate Malesela Teffo dropped a bombshell at the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday, and said that a witness was set to testify that the singer shot and killed Senzo Meyiwa by mistake in 2014.
Reports said that Moonsamy accused Teffo of “character assassination and defaming her client”, but they will not be intimidated.
During an interview with Newzroom Afrika, Moonsamy said: “My client is definitely being prejudiced publicly and this has been going on for almost eight years. We cannot wait to hear that eyewitness evidence. We are not going to stand by and be shaken by it.”

According to The Citizen, Moonsamy was exploring their options regarding Teffo’s allegations about the eyewitness and the murder weapon used in the murder of Meyiwa.
“There is no greater moment than now with such an allegation, vexatious as it is, premature as it is to question an investigating officer regarding an eyewitness who will say this. It is not probable,” the report quoted Moonsamy as saying.
In response to Moonsamy’s accusation, News24 reported that the defence team said they will be taking legal action against Khumalo’s lawyer.

Teffo’s instructing attorney, Timothy Thobane, accused Moonsamy of trying to defeat the ends of justice, the report said.
“Whatever action she wants to take is an attempt to threaten our witnesses. This is tantamount to defeating the ends of justice,” Thobane was quoted as saying.
Thobane said they will lay a charge against Moonsamy.
“Whatever she said, it intimidates witnesses. Can you say you are going to sue someone and that person must come and be a witness, you think that person will come and be a witness?,” Sowetan Live quoted Thobane as saying.
