Cape Town – Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after an FET college teacher was burnt to death, after he was accused of stealing goats.
In a statement, police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said the victim was transporting an unknown number of goats he had bought in Mamaolo, Ga-Mphahele village when the incident happened.
“The deceased was reportedly driving his motor vehicle in possession of an unknown number of goats that he purchased in Mamaolo, Ga-Mphahlele village.
“Unexpectedly, the victim’s vehicle was stopped by a mob who pulled him outside of his motor vehicle. Afterwards, the victim was severely assaulted and burned to death together with his motor vehicle after being suspected of stock theft,” said Lieutenant Colonel Seabi.

Police were called to the scene and upon arrival, they found a burnt out bakkie and the victim lying a few metres away from the vehicle.
His body was burned beyond recognition away from the vehicle.
The suspected stolen goats were not found at the scene of crime, said Seabi.
Lieutenant Colonel Seabi said they had since launched a manhunt for the suspects and warned community members “not take the law into their own hands”.
“Rather handover suspects to the police for further investigation and prosecution.”
