Cape Town – After pictures of a private wedding ceremony that celebrated the love between Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse and Action SA’s Brutus Malada caused a stir on social media, the mayor’s office confirmed that the date for a public ceremony will be announced soon.
Many are debating whether or not the couple should have had a public ceremony, however, with the mayor’s office announcing that a public ceremony will be held, both sides get a satisfactory outcome.
A larger problem arose for the newlyweds after Malada’s alleged fiancée, Ntaka Tshifaro came into the picture, reportedly saying that she was in shock after she saw wedding pictures of Malada and Phalatse circulating on social media. She allegedly claimed that Malada was her fiancé, having paid lobola for her last year.

Meanwhile, Malada reportedly denied he paid lobola for Tshifaro, saying that he only paid her family R5 000 for ivula mlomo (icebreaker between the families of potential bride and groom).
The couple will be looking to put the love triangle behind them, as they prepare for a public wedding ceremony. According to the mayor’s office, the date will be announced.
According to Kaya959, the mayor’s office released a statement in which they made an announcement.
“Over the weekend Dr Mpho Phalatse and Mr Brutus Malada held a private matrimonial ceremony in Venda, presided over by Pastor Lufuno Nemovhola. The soulmates are happy to begin a new life and grow old together,” the statement reportedly read.
“The date for a public ceremony will be announced soon.
“It is unfortunate that pictures of this private occasion were leaked on social media. Given that this was and remains a private matter, no further comment will be provided by Executive Mayor Phalatse, the Office of the Executive Mayor or Mr Malada.
“We wish them a prosperous and successful marriage,” read the statement.
