Cape Town – KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala and his family were among residents who were forced to evacuate from their homes in La Mercy, north Durban, following floods that hit the province over the weekend.
La Mercy was one of the areas that were severely impacted by the weekend’s disruptive rains.
Crown Gospel Music Awards co-founder, Zanele Mbokazi, who also lived in La Mercy said on her Facebook page that she could not get home, as all roads were closed.
“So we could not get home last night. Our area is totally isolated, all roads closed. Had to find accommodation. It looks like we are not going home anytime soon,” she wrote.
