The giant of African nationalism died on June 17, aged 97.
He succumbed to pneumonia.

The hero of the struggle against white rule in southern Africa shall be put to rest next week at a private ceremony for family and selected invited mourners.
Zambia’s president Edgar Lungu on Thursday addressed the nation and declared public holidays for Friday, the day of the memorial, and Wednesday, July 7, the day of the funeral.

Kaunda was the first democratically elected president of Zambia after gaining independence from Britain in 1964. He was in office until 1991.
