Cape Town – International footballer Kurt Zouma has landed himself in hot water with the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) after a video of him drop-kicking and slapping his cat went viral on social media.
In the video, Zouma can be seen kicking and slapping the cat while others burst in laughter.

According to IOL, Zouma’s action did not sit well with NSPCA that seized two cats from his custody and took them to a place of safety.
Zouma’s football team West Ham United has also fined the player an amount of £250 000 – just two weeks’ wages.

NSPCA however, is not happy with the club’s decision to fine Zouma so little.
“It is not about the money. It is about the fact that an animal was made to suffer deliberately and the abuser is walking freely. The fact that West Ham United has kept Zouma on their team is an indication that they are willing to support animal abusers,” the NSPCA said.
Vitality, the club’s official wellness partner, on the other hand, has suspended its sponsorship with immediate effect saying it was hugely disappointed with the decision, The Guardian reported.
