Cape Town – Newly appointed Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, will head into his first Champions League match without key players, midfielder N’golo Kante and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The Blues are due to go head to head with Austrian club, RB Salzburg, in their Champions League group stage match at Stamford Bridge. The two teams from group E will be looking to secure their first three points.
Chelsea suffered a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in what was their first game of the 22/23 Champions League campaign and Thomas Tuchel’s last game in charge.
According to BBC Sport, Kante will miss the RB Salzburg clash with a hamstring injury while Mendy is struggling with a knee problem.

Despite the injuries to Kante and Mendy as well as the changes the club has undergone, according to a statement by Chelsea FC, Potter says that he and the players are looking forward to the opportunity,
“At the same time, we’ve been trying to prepare a team, we’ve been trying to focus on the game, getting to know all the players, getting to know everyone at the training ground, but there’s no denying it, we’re really looking forward to it. It’s a fantastic opportunity.”
