Cape Town – After Elton Jantjies’ omission from the Springboks‘ preparations for their tour of the Northern Hemisphere, the fly-half has said in a statement on social media that he “fully understands and supports the decision”.
Jantjies was not part of the 26 players who were selected for the Springboks’ three-day camp that will run from Sunday until Wednesday as the Boks prepare to take on Ireland, France, Italy, and England on the Castle Lager Outgoing Tour.
This comes after Jantjies was sent home from Argentina ahead of a Rugby Championship match after media reports broke out about an affair he had while in Southern America.
Reports alleged that he had the affair with Springbok dietician, Zeenat Simjee. However, Elton denied that it was with her while Simjee also denied the allegations, and demanded an apology from the publication that first put out the story.
In response to his exclusion from the Springbok preparations, Jantjies has revealed that he sought professional help, and placed focus on his mental health in an attempt to get his personal life and career back on track.
