Cape Town – Dutch coaches Ronald Koeman and Jordi Cruyff revealed that they believe Erik Ten Hag is the man capable of bringing Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League in an interview with SkySports on Friday.
After winning their last Premier League title in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson, the club has had a rough time trying to recapture the success they witnessed with Ferguson at the helm. Since his retirement in 2013, United has seen a merry-go-round of managers coming into the club and going out, with eight different managers being appointed since the retirement of Fergie.
However, Koeman and Cruyff believe that the decision to appoint Ten Hag as the club’s manager will pay dividends.
“I think United understands that they have to give Erik that time and then United will come back. I’m sure of that,” said Koeman.
“I think with Ten Hag, United got kind of a new heir,” said Cruyff.
“With time, with patience, (and) with the necessary moves or movements in the transfer periods, I’m sure that they will get back to where they need to get,” he added.

Koeman was full of praise for his Dutch compatriot, complementing his coaching abilities.
“He’s a coach who likes good football, he’s a coach who likes to play attacking football, and with some good signings and time, I think he will bring United back to the top of the Premier League,” he said.
After a torrid start to his Manchester United career, losing 2-1 to Brighton and 4-0 to Brentford in his first two Premier League (PL) games, he managed to pick up victories in his next 4 PL games, beating both Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, Ten Hag’s toughest challenge is on the horizon as United prepare to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a highly anticipated derby clash on Sunday September, 02.
