Winners announced
According to iAfrica, this year’s Bold Woman Award went to Mo Mokone, co-founder of Mo’s Crib. As a self-taught artisan and designer specialising in home décor made from handmade and recycled materials, Mokone’s journey began as a side hustle with her sister in 2019. Since then, the business has grown, with Mokone now serving as the creative director.
“Winning the Bold Woman Award is an incredible honour and a profound celebration of the challenges I have overcome. It signifies triumph over adversity and is a beacon of hope, reaffirming that I am on the right path. This recognition is a personal achievement and testament to the resilience and determination required to navigate and succeed in the entrepreneurial world.” she said.
The Bold Future Award was presented to Refilwe Sebothoma, founder of Hakem Energies. iAfrica reported that Sebothoma is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker and strategist, with a track record of founding seven companies in related service areas.
“Winning the Bold Future Award validates our work, but for Hakem Energies, it’s more than that – it’s a global platform to amplify and accelerate our vision of combating energy poverty and saving lives through accessible LPG [liquid petroleum gas] for all communities,” Sebothoma said following the ceremony.
Hakem Energies has established several direct-to-consumer LPG outlets in the North West province, promoting the gas as a cleaner, safer energy source compared to firewood, charcoal and kerosene.
