Cape Town – Former president Jacob Zuma has taken his case to privately prosecute his successor, President Cyril Ramaphosa, to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA).
The former president appeared in the Johannesburg High Court on Monday.
In July, the High Court in Johannesburg had overturned the private prosecution, initiated on the eve of the ANC’s national elective conference in December.

Zuma claims that Ramaphosa failed to act on a complaint against State advocate Billy Downer, whom Zuma is also privately prosecuting.
He has now petitioned the SCA for leave to appeal the High Court’s ruling, and Ramaphosa’s legal team has indicated opposition.
Zuma also seeks to consolidate this appeal with another one challenging the invalidation of his private prosecution of Downer and journalist Karyn Maughan.
The matter has been postponed until April 11, 2024.
