Cape Town — African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, said former ANC leader, Jacob Zuma, had appealed his expulsion from the party and it is being processed.
Mbalula was speaking at the party’s Special NEC meeting held at Birchwood Conference Centre taking place this weekend and he reiterated that Zuma was not a member of the ANC, despite Zuma’s utterances during a briefing for the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Newzroom Afrika reported.
“First and foremost, Jacob Zuma has made his decision to leave the ANC and we wish him well in his endeavour for whatever reasons he may actually advance. We are very much focused on rebuilding the agenda of the ANC,” he said.
He added that the ANC will adopt the rebuilding phase throughout the country and will wait to see the success thereof. He maintained Zuma’s expulsion too.
“Jacob Zuma remains expelled in the ANC. He is an expelled member of the ANC. He has appealed and his appeal is being processed but he is an expelled member of the ANC,” Mbalula said.

According to The Citizen, Mbalula said Zuma was confusing the public and himself with his comments about being part of two political parties and he said the former president was doing it intentionally.
“That is what that project is about and that is what they want to achieve.”
He said Zuma should leave the ANC alone and concern himself with the MK party.
The ANC concedes that the MK party played a significant role in reducing their parliamentary majority and leaving them with no choice but to co-govern with other parties.
