Cape Town — UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party secretary-general, Arthur Zwane, has tendered his resignation from the party, citing a heavy workload and other interests, behind his decision.
In a letter written to MK leader, Jacob Zuma, he explained his reasons for his resignation and thanked Zuma for the opportunity afforded to be part of the MK Party.
“In the last two weeks I have realised that the volume of work in my office is huge and beyond my limits, especially because I have other competing business interests that I’m pursuing,” Zwane said,
“I’m humbled by the confidence you had in me, starting from being DSG and later SG. I’ll be available to hand over to a new SG at any determined time,” he added.
Speculation grew that Zuma had actually relieved Zwane off his duties before announcing his resignation. He also announced that the party’s treasurer general, Danisa Zulu, was relieved of her duties and she should hand her responsibilities over to a new treasurer. He did not cite any reasons behind his decision.
“This serves to express my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding and priceless revolutionary work you have done for the MK party.” he said.
