Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party is not fazed by not winning municipalities in the recent local elections.
Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Malema admitted that the EFF was still young and that it would be unrealistic for the party to believe that it could bring down an organisation like the ANC, which has been in existence for more than a decade.
He said the EFF was barely a decade old.
“When we wrote documents in 2013, we said others are going to fall on the way because it’s going to take long….. so that once it takes over, it stays forever. Everybody would have appreciated the sweat at the hard work they have invested in it and therefore do not allow it to die,” said Malema.

Malema, however, remained confident that his party was steadily growing and that it would gradually achieve its goal of dethroning the ANC.
“We are eating the elephant piece by piece.

“We are shaking the ANC properly, shaking well-resourced ministers, deputy ministers, mayors, councillors, all with resources.
“And former president Thabo Mbeki, Kgalema Motlanthe, Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa, we are clapping them and putting them below 50%,” said Malema.
The EFF clinched 885 seats and 10.32% of the vote nationally in this week’s local government elections.
