Cape Town – Former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, has declared her support for former minister of social development Bathabile Dlamini who was found guilty of perjury by the Johannesburg magistrate’s court on March 2.
Duduzile took to Twitter, and said that Dlamini was charged for allegedly not supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa’s government.
She further compared Dlamini to the late African National Congress (ANC) struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
“We Are In Full Support Of Mama Bathabile…Amandla,” wrote Duduzile in a Tweet.

According to News24, Dlamini was found guilty of perjury by Magistrate Betty Khumalo for lying under oath during a 2017 inquiry into the social grants debacle at the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) that saw millions of grant beneficiaries unsure if they would receive their money.

Last week, during a court hearing, Dlamini’s lawyer Tshepiso Mphahlane reportedly pleaded with the magistrate’s court to be “lenient” on his client, saying she was a single mother who had to take care of her children along with her extended family.
The State, on the other hand, has called for a hefty fine or even a harsh sentence against Dlamini, according to IOL.
Dlamini will be back in court on April 1 for sentencing.
Tweeps reacted to Duduzile’s public support for Dlamini, with many calling her out on her stance.

You always support people with poor judgement and who abused state funds that were supposed to help the poor. I wonder why most KZN people think people like you can be society leaders, significant and influencial.
