Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has vowed to continue fighting for land expropriation in South Africa, dismissing opposition from US President Donald Trump.
Speaking at a Human Rights Day event in Sharpeville on Friday, Malema said the return of land to black South Africans was a historical mission that would proceed “whether Donald Trump likes it or not”.

“The approach of this government, which seeks to plead with imperialism, is cowardice and we must never allow it.”
His remarks came amid worsening relations between South Africa and the US.
Trump recently cut financial aid to Pretoria, citing its case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and growing ties with Iran. The US has also strongly opposed South Africa’s Expropriation Act, which allows for land confiscation without compensation.
Despite mounting diplomatic tensions, Malema made it clear that the EFF would not back down.
He said that the United States sought to maintain control over South Africa through any means, but emphasised the need for resistance.
“The USA is interested in dominance over us by any means necessary and we must stand up and fight for ourselves, because we represent a historical mission. That mission is the return of the land. Whether Donald Trump likes it or not, we are going to fight for the return of the land in South Africa.”
