Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa, has unveiled a new Cabinet featuring members of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and other parties in a Government of National Unity (GNU).
Despite last-minute efforts by the EFF to join the GNU without the DA and Freedom Front Plus, Ramaphosa struck a deal with DA leader John Steenhuisen, granting the DA six ministries and six deputy ministries.
Key appointments include Paul Mashatile as deputy president and Steenhuisen as Minister of Agriculture.
Other DA ministers include Siviwe Gwarube (Basic Education), Solly Malatsi (Communications), Dean MacPherson (Public Works), Leon Schreiber (Home Affairs), and Dion George (Environmental Affairs).
The coalition was formed after extensive negotiations, marking the start of the seventh administration with the involvement of multiple parties.
