Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed confidence in his party’s ability to secure a convincing majority in next year’s general election.
Speaking at the wreath-laying ceremony for the late ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte, Ramaphosa highlighted Duarte’s desire to see the ANC united and maintaining its leadership role in society.
He said that the ANC will be restored into power with a greater majority and said that’s what Duarte would have wanted.
“We must strengthen the alliance as led by the ANC. She would have wanted the ANC leadership to stay rooted in principles.”
“She would have stood for an alliance that is united. She would have insisted the Alliance act as one.”
“As we go towards the 2024 election we must ensure the ANC is brought back much stronger with a greater majority,” Ramaphosa said.
He pledged to honor Duarte’s wishes by prioritising the challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inequality, reaffirming the party’s commitment to addressing these issues collectively.
