Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Carl Niehaus has responded to critics doubting his commitment to the party, saying in a video on X that he has no plans to leave the organisation.
Addressing speculation about his possible departure, Niehaus spoke to supporters during the Voter Registration Campaign in Thabazimbi over the weekend.
“Fighters, I don’t want to even hear the question ‘are you leaving,’ because it’s a stupid, useless question. I am going nowhere,” he said.

Public perception has been shaped by the party’s electoral decline in this year’s general elections, alongside internal rifts that have seen key leaders such as former party’s Deputy President Floyd Shivambu, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, and Fana Mokoena leave the party.
According to The Citizen, rumours about Niehaus leaving surfaced after Shivambu’s resignation, but he has dismissed these claims, which seem to have resurfaced.
Despite this turmoil, Niehaus remains optimistic about the party’s future.
“I know that we will succeed in the EFF… I know that our ideology is sound,” he said.
Niehaus added: “There are no better leaders in any political party in South Africa than in the EFF.”
