Cape Town – ANC MP Gwede Mantashe has humorously suggested that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) should bring back its former deputy president, Floyd Shivambu, from his new political home in the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.
Mantashe made the comment during the State of the Nation Address (Sona) debate, saying, “Fetch Floyd [from MKP], it’s bad. Bring him back to EFF, it’s bad where he is.”

He has clashed publicly with Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, who insulted him in social media posts.
The spat led to Zuma-Sambudla’s apology after her father intervened, threatening her with expulsion from the party.
Despite the apology, many believe her actions have brought the party into disrepute, and she has faced criticism for not addressing Shivambu directly.
Shivambu’s arrival at MKP has fuelled internal power struggles, with accusations that he’s attempting to install former EFF members in key positions within the party.
