Cape Town – Gauteng ANC Provincial Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi has welcomed the ANC National Executive Committee’s (NEC) intervention in Gauteng, following the party’s poor performance in the last elections.
Speaking at the ANC’s 113th anniversary celebrations in Alexandra on Sunday, Lesufi acknowledged the NEC’s decision to reconfigure the party structures in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal but emphasised that they will not be pushed out by detractors.
He affirmed the ANC’s commitment to maintaining control within its constitutional structures.
WE WILL DEFEND THE ANC AT ALL COSTS! ✊🏾

“This ANC is ours and this ANC belongs to our people and no one will takeover the African National Congress and we will defend this ANC with whatever we have in our powers, and whatever structures we have, because no one must control the ANC outside the structures of the African National Congress,” Lesufi said.
The intervention comes after Gauteng and KZN secured only 35% and 17% of the vote, respectively.
