Cape Town – Former president Jacob Zuma, who has previously announced he would not vote for or campaign for the ruling ANC in the 2024 national elections, mistakenly urged a crowd to vote for the ANC during a speech at a branch launch of the Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party on Monday.
Zuma corrected himself, saying he meant to say MK Party.
Lol, President Zuma still loves the ANC shame..lol…what an honest mistake…#Cyan penuel. Lizzy. Bafana bafana. #MatricResults2023 pic.twitter.com/IUk4RI9bZe

Despite his earlier announcement, Zuma insisted he remains an ANC member, saying he would vote for MK but would not leave the ANC, citing its historical significance.
The incident sparked debate on social media, with some forgiving him, claiming his heart is still with the ANC.
He is confused and confusing all of you. You are his members kodwa yena he is a member yeANC and uthi angeke ayishiye uyofela kuyona. 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/eWV39VYziM

That’s not even a secret, he has never even hidden it. The MK Party was not created to destroy the ANC but in his own words “rescue it” from the Bourgeoisie Capitalist class led by Ramaphosa which has captured it. That has always been the main purpose behind MK as Zuma put it

It’s an honest mistake indeed.
