Cape Town – The Electoral Commission Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, has assured the public of of the commission’s readiness for the upcoming National and Provincial Elections in South Africa.
With over 14,903 candidates contending for 887 seats and 27.79 million registered voters, preparations are in full swing, he said.
Voting stations are set up, and staff, including additional personnel for counting, are being trained.
“In these elections, voters will receive three ballot papers: the national compensatory ballot for political parties, provincial and regional for parties and independent candidates,” Mamabolo said during a media briefing on Tuesday.

The Results Operations Centre will be launched on May 22, housing representatives from various organisations and media.
Measures for accessibility include the Universal Ballot Template for voters with disabilities.
Mamabolo emphasised voting where registered and provides options for checking registration status.
The Commission urged citizens to exercise their democratic rights responsibly, promising to declare election outcomes based on voters’ choices.
