Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema spent much of his 41st birthday in the East London Regional Court on Thursday, where he was attending his trial for the unlawful possession of a firearm and contravening the Firearms Control Act.
His supporters went out of their way to make it memorable day for him.
During a lunch break, his supporters in the gallery stood up and waved placards wishing their leader a “happy birthday”.
Singing and dancing ensued, and a cake was brought out and presented to Malema.
He beamed with joy.

Malema is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms, contravention of the Firearms Control Act, the illegal possession of ammunition, and reckless endangerment to persons or property, according to Times Live.
The charges stem from a viral video from 2018 in which Malema walked out onto the stage, firing a rifle several times before handing it to Snyman during the EFF’s fifth-anniversary celebration in Mdantasane, Eastern Cape.

His co-accused bodyguard Adriaan Snyman, on the other hand, is charged with one count of violating the Firearms Control Act and failing to take reasonable precautions to avoid endangering a person’s property.
Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The EFF’s Twitter page was also filled with heartwarming birthday wishes.
