Cape Town – Embattled Jabulani Khumalo attended the IEC results operations centre (ROC) in Midrand on Wednesday, asserting his leadership of the MK Party despite being expelled by former president Jacob Zuma.
Khumalo contends that his expulsion is invalid as he cannot be ousted from his own party.
He has approached the electoral court, claiming his signature was forged in a letter alleging he ceded power to Zuma.
Khumalo insists he registered the party and remains its legitimate leader.
According to Times Live, Khumalo faced numerous questions from journalists at the ROC, maintaining his stance as the party leader.
“I’m here because I’m the leader of MK. No, it’s not a futile exercise, how can it be?” asked Khumalo.

“Who says I’m expelled? Who decides that I’m expelled? You can’t expel me from my own organisation, it’s impossible,” the report quoted him as saying.
He missed the party’s manifesto launch but dismissed it as inconsequential, saying that leaders must canvass votes.
“I didn’t miss it. Not to be there doesn’t mean that you missed it. The party is going to the elections on the 29th, so leaders must go all over and canvas [votes]”.
