Cape Town — Following his highly-publicised switch from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Floyd Shivambu’s new role has been revealed.
Shivambu shook South Africa’s political landscape when he announced his departure from the EFF and moved to the MK Party, which had beaten the red berets as the 3rd biggest political party after the 2024 elections. The MK Party announced that Shivambu would receive a tailored role in his new party, which was revealed as the national organiser.
The party’s Sifiso Maseko, speaking on behalf of Jacob Zuma, announced the roles of its top 8 officials during a media briefing.
“The president remains Jacob Zuma, the deputy president remains comrade Dr John Hlophe, the secretary-general is the fellow reading the president’s statement, Dr Sifiso Maseko, the deputy secretary-general is the beautiful comrade Nombuso Mkhize,” he said. Shivambu was announced as the party’s national organiser.
“I’m sure all of you can guess who is the national organiser. The national organiser is the one and only Floyd Shivambu,” which received a big round of applause.
