Cape Town – Former EFF Limpopo chairperson Tshilidzi Maraga has resigned to join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, citing favouritism and leadership issues within the EFF, reports said.
Maraga resigned after the EFF disbanded its Vhembe regional structure, citing poor performance in the May general elections, SABC News reported.
Despite gaining two more seats, party leadership attributed the decision to underperformance. Maraga felt she was not favoured by the leadership.
Maraga claimed her departure was due to the party being run by personal friendships rather than its constitution.

“It is not correct that we underperformed. It is not true. The party does not follow the constitution. It uses proximity and friendship. The constitution should be the one that runs the party and not friends.
“The current chairperson was parachuted to the position with only one year and the constitution does not allow that,” IOL quoted her as saying.
She joins a growing list of former EFF leaders, including Floyd Shivambu and Mpho Morolane, who have left the party to join MKP.
