CapeTown – The EEE has declined the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party’s invitation to its first-anniversary rally this weekend at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
EFF Secretary General Marshall Dlamini announced the decision during a press briefing on Thursday, citing the lack of formal communication from MK leadership.
“I don’t have a letter from the president of the MK. They put it on media, and we are not going to the rally of MK,” he said.
The EFF is instead focused on its Third National People’s Assembly at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg, where delegates will engage in critical plenary discussions.
Dlamini expressed confidence in the assembly’s outcomes, aiming to strengthen the party’s position in leadingsociety and the country.
Relations between the EFF and MK have been strained due to key EFF figures defecting to the MK party.
MK Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu said during a media briefing on Wednesday that the African Transformation Movement (ATM) had already accepted the invitation.
“When they come, we will give them an opportunity to give a message of support in our first anniversary of uMkhonto weSizwe because these are our strategic friends in terms of the agenda we are in pursuit of,” Shivambu sai
