Cape Town – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) announced on Thursday that they will not participate in the African National Congress (ANC) Government of National Unity (GNU).
Despite sharing some values with the ANC, the EFF disagrees with other parties in the GNU.
“We are, however, aware that the ANC is finalising an agreement to work with the DA, the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) and other reactionary political parties. As we said before, the EFF will not participate in a government that includes right-wing and reactionary political parties,” EFF leader Julius Malema said.
The ANC, lacking a clear majority from the general elections, is forming a GNU to govern with all parties in Parliament.
Malema said the party cannot collaborate with parties funded by the billionaire Oppenheimer family.
