Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, addressed questions in the National Assembly, saying that the government is still considering cutting all diplomatic ties with Israel, a decision that will be made in due course.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), led by Julius Malema, pressed Ramaphosa to act on a resolution passed by Parliament last year to sever relations with Israel.
“President we must appreciate the role that you played when it comes to the International Court of Justice and the fact that South Africa mobilsed the international community in support of the Palestinian question.

“… This Parliament in line with the pact of the future took a resolution that we must close the Israeli embassy and cut all diplomatic ties with Israel. Till to date, you are so reluctant to implement that resolution…,” Malema said.
In his response, Ramaphosa reaffirmed South Africa’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause but said the resolution was still under active consideration.
“It is a matter being considered in a very active manner and in due course will be able to articulate precisely what the executive’s response is to the resolution that was taken by the National Assembly,” the president said.
