Cape Town – Louis Liebenberg’s prediction that Jacob Zuma would become president again appears unlikely following a Constitutional Court ruling.
Liebenberg, a financial supporter of Zuma, declared his belief in this prophecy during the MK Party’s manifesto launch in Orlando Stadium, Soweto over the weekend.
“My vote goes to the MK Party, has always been and will be. You must understand it comes from a Boer that had fought against the Zulus but it is time we get back to Blood River. We have to go and wash our swords. We are going to make peace in this country and we will run it.

“That man, who looked small the first time I saw him, he grew in stature and God showed me that he is going to be a president once more before he goes to heaven and sings a new song with the angels. This man will lead this country. This is a prophecy. In the next two weeks we can make it happen. He is the only man that can unite South Africa, nobody else,” Liebenberg said.
However, the court ruled on Monday that Zuma is ineligible to stand in the May 29 elections due to his previous conviction and 15-month prison sentence.
Zuma, who left office in 2018 dogged by corruption allegations, was convicted of contempt in 2021 and sentenced to 15 months.
Rioting after his imprisonment left more than 350 people dead.
He eventually served less than three months in jail, but the court ruled that this was irrelevant as the constitution refers to the sentence imposed, not served.
“Mr Zuma… is accordingly not eligible to be a member of and not qualified to stand for election to the national assembly,” Justice Leona Theron said, reading the judgment.
