Cape Town – ANC first deuty secretary-general Nomvula Mokonyane insists that the ANC can form a government of national unity (GNU) without the DA after disputes over cabinet positions.
Seaking to. Newzroom Afrika, Mokonyane criticised the DA for leaking negotiation details and making excessive demands, such as representation in all cabinet clusters, including 12 posts and the deputy president position.
“There is no GNU between the ANC and the DA; we called all political parties. They [DA allegedly] leaked their proposals to the media when there are processes of negotiations that have been taking place, as well as consultation between the leaders of political parties,” said Mokonyane.
She emphasised that the GNU can proceed with or without the DA and stressed the importance of collaboration among all political parties.

Negotiations with multiple parties are ongoing, and some have yet to publicly announce their positions.
