Cape Town – The US chargé d’affaires in South Africa, Dana Brown, has reportedly resigned from the State Department with immediate effect.
“The US chargé d’affaires in SA, Ms Dana Brown, resigned from the State Department with immediate effect,” News24 said a source with intimate information as saying on Friday morning.

Insiders deny any link between her resignation and strained US-South Africa relations, EWN reported.
Last week, Brown attended the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in place of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who boycotted the event.
Rubio falsely alleged land grabs in South Africa and opposed its G20 presidency themes of solidarity, equality, and sustainability.
Brown, who took office in August 2024, had been serving as the top US diplomat in SA following Ambassador Reuben Brigety’s resignation in January.
