Cape Town – The EFF Students Command (EFFSC) has expelled former University of Limpopo SRC member Kganki Mphahlele after he criticised EFF leader Julius Malema and publicly supported Mbuyiseni Ndlozi for the deputy president position ahead of the party’s upcoming elective conference in December.
Mphahlele, who served as SRC member in 2022/23, argued on social media that Ndlozi’s leadership was crucial for the party’s survival following the departure of Floyd Shivambu.
He challenged Malema’s influence in appointing leaders, insisting that the decision should come from party branches.
“CIC Julius Malema is not a National People Assembly superdelegate, he must not dare try to impose Godrich Gardee as the EFF deputy president. We don’t want Gardee, we want Mbuyiseni Ndlozi as branches. Julius and all his deployees must not dare start a war with branches, war is a very difficult thing,” Mphahlele said, according to Times Live.
Internal squabbles appear to be emerging as the EFF’s elective conference draws closer. Limpopo Student Command member Kganki Mphahlele was shown the door after his heated exchange with EFF leader Julius Malema on social media over leadership nominations.

Despite Malema’s warning to Mphahlele, he remained defiant, asserting that no one is above accountability in the movement.
In a letter dated October 30, the EFFSC cited Mphahlele’s repeated public insults and actions that brought disrepute to the organisation as grounds for his immediate expulsion. Other EFF members echoed support for Ndlozi, calling for unity behind his potential leadership.
CMSR Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi we’re going for the jugular now, we must protect the EFF from the elites.
