Cape Town — A recent survey conducted by the Brenthurst Foundation found that many South Africans are in favour of a coalition between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA).
The survey was conducted by the Sabi strategy on behalf of the Brenthurst Foundation. 1 000 people were interviewed via cellphone and filled out a 5-minute questionnaire. The survey said there was a 3% error rate with 95% confidence level.
According to the poll, an ANC-DA-MPC partnership received 40.2% of the votes, while an ANC-MK oairing received 19.5% of the votes, and an ANC-EFF parternship received 11.5% of the votes.
Among Gauteng voters, the ANC-DA-MPC coalition once again came out on top with 54.9% of votes. The ANC-EFF received 13.1% if votes, and an ANC minority was 3rd with 6.8%, edging out an ANC-MK partnership (5.8%).

As for the voters in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), the ANC-MK coalition received 40.4% of the votes, while the ANC-DA-MPC partnership received 23.2% of the votes, just edging out an ANC-MK-EFF trio (19.6%).
ANC, DA and MK voters were also asked over their preferred coalitions. ANC voters were in favour of an ANC-DA coalition (37.4%), while an ANC-EFF pairing was the next popular option at 20.2% of votes.
DA voters were overwhelmingly in favour of an ANC-DA-MPC coalition at a whopping 85%, with an ANC minority at 8.3%. Meanwhile, MK voters voted for an ANC-MK party with 71.3% of votes, beating an ANC-MK-EFF grouping (19.1%).
