Cape Town — The ANC in Limpopo remained adamant that it’s provincial chairperson, Stanley Mathabatha, has not left the party to join hands with Jacob Zuma and his newly-formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
It was alleged that posters began trending on social media that implied Mathabatha left the ANC to join MK, with the party alleging that Zuma was attempting to woo many amongst its ranks to walk away from the governing party, EWN reported.
In 2022, Mathabatha was rejected by hos own provincial executive structures when he attempted to sway Limpopo against backing Cyril Ramaphosa and his bid for successful re-election. He lost his position to national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe.

According to provincial spokesperson, Jimmy Machaka, Mathabatha remained committed to the party, JacarandaFM posted.
“As the ANC in the province, we wish to assure all our structures and all the members of the public that the provincial chairperson of the ANC is not a member of the MK party and does not have any intention of joining the MK Party,” he said.
“We further call upon them not to take this poster seriously because this is an attempt to weaken the ANC and to move focus from us and the election work of the ANC. The chairperson of the ANC is fully committed to the work of the unity and renewal of the ANC, and therefore, any attempt to characterise him as a member of the MK Party is misleading and should be treated as false,” he added.
