Cape Town – Solly Msimanga has been chosen as the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) candidate for Gauteng premier in the upcoming 2024 national and provincial elections.
Msimanga, recently elected as the party’s provincial leader, is known for his blend of experience, enthusiasm, and determination.
The announcement was made by the DA’s national leader, John Steenhuisen, who expressed confidence that the DA could win in Gauteng, signaling a shift from previous elections where the ANC was the expected winner.

“Previously we knew for certain the ANC would win Gauteng. We have never had this much to play for going into an election. Now we know for certain the ANC will lose Gauteng. This change is an enormous step forward for our politics. This means we need to start behaving like a true government-in-waiting,” Times Live quoted Steenhuisen as saying.
Steenhuisen emphasised the need for the party to unite and change its approach to become a credible government-in-waiting.
