Cape Town — The uMkhonto weSizwe’s (MK) Floyd Shivambu has claimed his party still has a good relationship with its Progressive Caucus partner, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Tensions between the two parties have grown exponentially over the past year, as several high-profile names have switched their red berets for the green and black of the MK party. These include Floyd Shivambu, Dali Mpofu and Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
According to EWN, the MK Party claimed the relationship with the EFF remains strong and the party harbours no ill feelings towards the EFF and that the Progressive Caucus remains strong. The Progressive Caucus is a group of four parties opposed to the current leadership of the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The EFF has accused the MK Party of trying to recruit its members and destabilise the party but former EFF deputy and current MK Party secretary-general. Floyd Shivambu said it was all in the past.
“Any component of the Progressive Caucus is constituted by the Progressive Caucus charter which commits us to common ideas, common agendas and programmes in Parliament. As far as I am concerned, there has not been a single member of the Progressive Caucus have come to the Progressive Caucus and let’s amend the charter,” Shivambu said.
