Johannesburg – The Southern Africa bloc condemned Monday what it called an attempted coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend and commended the government’s arrest of the perpetrators.
“The Southern African Development Community (SADC) condemns in its strongest terms the attempted coup d’etat that happened on 19 May 2024 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo,” the bloc, which includes the DRC, said in a statement.
