Cape Town — President Cyril Ramaphosa has said he needs time to properly process the information submitted to him by Minister of Justice, Thembi Simelane.
Ramaphosa was asked during the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) why Simelane was still in her Ministerial role and he revealed that she had submitted the documents to him over her loan from VBS broker, Gundo Wealth Solutions, but he needed the space to go through it, EWN reported.
“She’s just submitted the report to me with all the documents and the attachments, which I am now studying. I’ve said publicly that I would like time and space to look at this, to examine all this, and be able to say how we take this matter forward,” he said.
Simelane revealed she will be meeting with Ramaphosa on Monday, and would give him all the documents related to the loan. She had appeared before the National Assembly’s justice committee last week, where she denied any form of improper conduct with Gundo.

According to IOL, Presidency spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya said Ramaphosa appreciates the importance of the justice ministry in the leadership of the Justice Security and Crime Prevention Cluster.
“The president appreciates its contribution to the functioning of the cluster and he is committed to ensure the highest level of integrity with the national executive.”
He said Ramaphosa will consider all the facts in the VBS saga before taking any decisions.
The owner of Gundo Wealth Solutions, Rallion Razwinane, is currently on trial for fraud, corruption, and money laundering for his role as a commission agent linking municipalities, including Polokwane Municipality, with the VBS.
The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo has called on those involved in the collapse of VBS Mutual Bank to face the full might of the law.
Provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka reaffirmed the party’s stance on VBS saying that “all the members and leaders who directly or indirectly contributed to its collapse should face the law with fear or favour, without fear or favour.”
