Cape Town – As the May 29 elections approach, over 650 out of approximately 23,000 voting stations in South Africa have been identified as hotspots.
This information was shared by the National Joint Operational Structure (Natjoints) during a media briefing on law enforcement’s readiness for the elections.
Working through the Operational Intelligence Co-ordination Committee, #NATJOINTS identified high risk voting stations.

Natjoints co-chair Tebello Mosikili emphasised that particular attention will be given to provinces with a history of election disruptions, though he did not specify which provinces.
“When we developed the plan, we looked at the previous, the current intelligence, the climate, the maturity of our electorates, and we plan accordingly. So, I don’t want to downplay any of our 9 provinces to say this one is better than the other, but we do have different levels of our focus in those,” EWN quoted Mosikili as saying.
