Cape Town — The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party paid tribute to Commander Canaan Mdletshe, who died in a tragic car accident.
Mdletshe was involved in an accident while he was travelling home from the by-elections in Mthubatuba in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN), where he was a member of the KZN Provincial Detachment, a party statement read.
MK spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, said Mdletshe played a key role as a member of the National Freedom Party (NFP) prior to joining the MK Party. The party’s leadership paid tribute to Mdletshe and conveyed its deepest condolences to his family.
“uMkhonto wegwala ufela etsheni (the coward’s spear dies on a stone), however Commander Mdletshe was no coward, he picked up his spear and fought for the downtrodden and marginalised of our people. uMkhonto weSizwe Party salutes his bravery and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” Ndhlela said.
