Earlier this week, Parliament announced that it had cancelled all travel arrangements and accommodation for the party’s members after it said it would be boycotting Parliament to get an interdict against the sitting.
The Constitutional Court dismissed the MK’s application to stop Parliament’s first sitting, and the court ruled it was not in its jurisdiction to hear the case and that it was not in the interest of justice to grant the party direct access.
Former party leader, Jabulani Khumalo, also had his case dismissed after he tried to get himself reinstated as the leader of the party. The court ruled that Khumalo’s application was an abuse of the judicial process and issued a punitive costs order against him.
