Cape Town – The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has taken action against Visvin Reddy, a senior leader in KZN, who appeared in court on charges of inciting public violence.
Reddy, accused of making inciting comments at a public gathering, was warned by the MK party against violence, with a threat of expulsion.
However, Reddy received only a warning from the party.
His appearance in court follows his remarks about potential civil war if his party is not allowed to campaign.
“Hear me very carefully, this country will be turned into a civil war the day MK is not allowed to campaign and to be on the ballot paper. No one will vote and no one in this country will vote.

“We are sending a loud and clear message that if these courts which are sometimes captured, if they stop MK, there will be anarchy in this country. There will be riots like you’ve never seen in this country. There’ll be no election. No South African will go the polls if MK is not on the ballot paper,” The Citizen quoted Reddy as saying.
The matter has been transferred to the Durban Regional Court for further proceedings.
Reddy’s supporters claim his arrest is a tactic to hinder the MK party’s election campaign, the report said.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned against political parties threatening violence, stating that such actions will result in arrests.
According to EWN, the MK Party stated its intention to expel any members found inciting violence.
Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said that such remarks did not align with the party’s principles and beliefs.
“Any member, and I need to make it clear, who utters any words of violence, wearing regalia of uMkhonto [weSizwe], we will take drastic measures because we can’t be associated with any elements of criminality.”
