Cape Town – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, led by former President Jacob Zuma, is challenging the national and provincial election results.
They have filed an urgent application with the Electoral Court to invalidate the election results, citing serious irregularities that compromised the fairness of the polls.
The MK party is also demanding that President Cyril Ramaphosa call for new elections within 90 days if the current results are overturned.

“Directing the president by proclamation an in terms of Section 49(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa to call for a new national election, which must be held within 90 days of the order of the court setting aside the election,” the party said in a statement.
Previously, the Constitutional Court dismissed the MK party’s attempt to block the first sitting of the new parliament and overturn the election outcomes, ruling that their case lacked merit.
Despite securing significant votes, the MK party failed to retain control in KwaZulu-Natal and influence national politics.
Zuma is expected to address the nation on Sunday regarding the political situation and developments in South Africa.
