Cape Town — The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party announced the respective leadership collective in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) during a party meeting.
“KZN is a very important and strategic province in the life of the MK Party, having contributed the lion’s share of the votes received in the 2024 general elections,” MK spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela said in a statement.
The party acknowledged that KZN is its most supported province and is currently the official opposition in the province, despite its strong support. The party has experienced many challenges and difficulties sicnce its formation, which proved the reasons behind the changes in eladership in the province’s different regions.

“The National Officials’ decision to appoint leadership is therefore with an understanding and appreciation that we have faced and dealt with these difficulties,” Ndhlela added.
The party considered several principles in gathering its new leadership, including experience, relevant skills and knowledge related to the role, gender balance, a generational mix and national group representation.
In total, the MK Party announced the provincial top 8 as well as the regional top 8 in Ethekwini, Uthukela, Umzinyathi, Ugu, Moses Mabhida, Harry Gwala, King Cetshwayo, Ilembe, Umkhanyakude, Zululand and Amajuba.
The MK Party said it is now gaining organisational shape and form it needs to consolidate the forces in South Africa.
“We are not yet where we should be, but with focus, we will get there. The whole organisation must be guided by the principles and values of our movement,” Ndhlela said.
