Cape Town – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has expressed confidence in improving its electoral performance in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) despite competition from the Jacob Zuma-backed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.
The latest Ipsos poll revised the EFF’s prediction to 11.5%, down from 19% in February, attributing the decrease to the emergence of the MK Party.
KZN, with 5.7 million registered voters, holds significant electoral weight, making up over 20% of the country’s voter roll.
According to EWN, EFF leader Julius Malema acknowledged the challenge of breaking into KZN’s political landscape dominated by the ANC and the IFP but remained optimistic about the party’s progress.

“We are a new organisation. There has always been two traditional parties in KZN – the ANC and the IFP – so to break that ground and be introduced as a new baby is not going to be an easy thing but we are making serious inroads,” the report quoted Malema as saying
The EFF has strategically deployed key members like Floyd Shivambu and Marshall Dlamini to bolster support in the province ahead of the elections.
Malema said that winning over the KZN electorate was not going to be easy, New24 reported.
