Cape Town — African Congress for Transformation (ACT) leader, Ace Magashule, has expelled 11 members from his party after they were spotted at the Nkandla home of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader, Jacob Zuma.
Party spokesperson, Kgaketla Mokoena, said the members were in direct opposition to the party’s principles and goals and listed “undermining value”, “conduct violations”, and “disloyalty” as the reasons for the expulsions, of the party said in a statement.
“These violations are intolerable and contradict the very foundation of our party principles. We are committed to maintaining the integrity, values and unity of our organisation,” Mokoena said.
The list of those expelled includes Rankele Msinto, Tshidi Senoge, Maureen Moopoloa, Mapaseka Nkoane, Mokone Ratshalla, Rosa Gcantsane, Motlalepule Makoloane, Tatum de Pearce, Iris Mogamise, Tsietsi Sethabela and Tiisetso Khaalo.

The party said the expelled members were known to have a history of creating divisions within the African National Congress (ANC), but he did not state in detail what the actions were.
He said the expulsion of the members is a testament to the ACT’s commitment to not tolerate any behaviour that violates the party’s principles and said the party stands firm in its dedication to fostering a disciplined party.
According to The Citizen, the expulsion comes after Magashule allegedly took issue with the group after they were spotted in a picture with Zuma at his Nkandla residence. However, the expelled members said that they had resigned from the party at the beginning of July, well before Magashule had expelled them.
The members said Magashule had presented himself as a dictator and those who disagreed with him, were purged from the party. He also failed to disclose the financial standing of the party, including sponsors during the elections.
According to the Daily Sun, Msinto alleged that Magashule appointed a party representative to the provincial legislature unilaterally and kept party interim structures in the dark about his ongoing criminal cases.
“It is then malicious for him to issue a statement saying he has expelled us. How do you expel an individual or a collective when you are in possession of their resignation letters? We have proof of service to him,” Msinto said.
